FTIR Spectrometer LT-FS101 Catalog

Overview

Labtro FTIR Spectrometer LT-FS101 directs infrared radiation from its long-life air-cooled IR source into an interferometer containing a coated KBr beamsplitter and precision movable mirror. The beamsplitter divides the infrared beam into separate optical paths, and the returning beams recombine to form an interference signal containing information from many infrared wavelengths simultaneously. This modulated IR beam then interacts with the sample, where specific molecular bonds absorb characteristic frequencies according to their vibrational modes. The high-resolution detector records the resulting interferogram, while the 24-bit, 500 MHz A/D system converts it into digital data. The connected PC applies a Fourier Transform to convert the interferogram into an infrared spectrum showing absorbance or transmittance versus wavenumber. The resulting spectrum can then be used to identify functional groups, compare samples with reference spectra, and characterize material composition. The internal dynamic collimation and precision mirror-drive system help maintain optical alignment during scanning, while the desiccant protects the moisture-sensitive optical components.
